John 3:

14  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

15  that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

16  "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

17  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

18  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

John 6:

35  Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.

36  But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe.

37  All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.

38  For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.

39  And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.

40  For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day."

John 17:

1  When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you,

2  since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.

3  And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

Ephesians 1:

3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,

4  even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love

5  he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

6  to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

7  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

8  which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight

9  making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ

10  as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

11  In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,

12  so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.

13  In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

14  who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

(Romans 8:1- 9:6-24)

The sufficiency and efficacy of Christ’s obedient work, i.e. His atoning death, applies only to the elect, those chosen in Christ from before the foundation of the world. He came into creation to redeem it. His death and resurrection is not for condemnation, but for redemption and justification (of the elect alone, which is the will of the Father). Condemnation is forever tied to unbelief and unbelievers, all those made as vessels unto wrath. All men are God’s vessels, some created for wrath and some for mercy. There must coexist wrath/mercy, darkness/light, hatred/love, condemnation/salvation in order that the glory of God and the knowledge of that glory be made known. For those who would argue against the true Gospel, the reply given is the same as Paul’s:

Romans 9:

20  But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, "Why have you made me like this?"

21  Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?

22  What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,

23  in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory--

24  even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?

Paul gives no other answer other than God has decreed this to be so for His own sovereign purpose and pleasure. He leaves nothing to chance, i.e. our choosing Him (Romans 3:10-12). It truly is all about Him and only Him. 

    

Habakkuk 2:                                                                                                                                           13  Behold, is it not from the LORD of hosts that peoples labor merely for fire, and nations weary themselves for nothing? 

14  For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.

John 17:

1  When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, 2  since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. 3  And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. 4  I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. 5  And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed. 6  "I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your wotd.

  
1 Peter 1:  
18  knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19  but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. 20  He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you 21  who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

Christ died solely for the elect, i.e. all whose names were enrolled by the Father in the Lamb's Book of Life; written before the creation of all things. (Rev 17:8 and 5:6-12)

Isaiah  53:                                                                                                                          

10  Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11  Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.

Matthew 26:                                                                                                                       

 39  And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will."

Hebrews 5:                                                                                                                           

 7  In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. 8  Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.

John 10:                                                                                                                                     

14  I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15  just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16  And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17  For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18  No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father."

Acts 4:                                                                                                                                 

 24  And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said, "Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them,25  who through the mouth of our father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit, "'Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples plot in vain? 26  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed'-- 27  for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, 28  to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place.

Therefore the atoning death of the Lamb, (the Lamb foreknown from before the foundation of the world), was also foreknown from before all creation. His death was predestined by the Father; agreed and submitted to by His obedient Son.

Romans 8:                                                                                                                         

1  There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2  For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3  For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4  in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

2Cor 5:                                                                                                                                  

21  For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

So it was neither the sins of the elect, nor the actions of men that "killed" Christ. It was a transaction of command, and obedience to command, between Father and Son, by which all that are chosen to believe benefit forever. Our sins did not kill Christ. On the contrary,in Christ both our sins, and sin nature were "killed". (Romans 6:1-8)
To say our sins, or the actions of any man are responsible for killing Christ is just another manifestation of pride in the guise of humility.

Romans 5:

1  Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2  Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3  More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4  and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,

5  and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. 6  For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7  For one will scarcely die for a righteous person--though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die-- 8  but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9  Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10  For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11  More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Romans 9:                                                                                                                                  
10  And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac,11  though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad--in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls-- 12  she was told, "The older will serve the younger." 13  As it is written, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated."

God’s love, made manifest through the death of His Son, is bestowed on those of  His choosing, by His own good pleasure. The revelation Paul received is that men being neither righteous, nor good, are worthy only of God’s wrath. Most certainly we are unworthy to receive the benefits of His loving atonement. God has chosen from all mankind, those whom He loves. God’s love is given to, in, through and because of Christ. Without the exchange of love between Father and Son seen through the obedient act of the Son laying down His life, and the resurrection of the Son by the Father, there would be absolutely no hope for any man. (Romans 1:1-4; John 10:17-18) All things, including mankind, exist solely for His glory.

Romans 9:                                                                                                                                    
14  What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God's part? By no means! 15  For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." 16  So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. 17  For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth."

18  So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills. 19  You will say to me then, "Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?"

20  But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Ephesians2:                                                                                                                                                           1  And you were dead in the trespasses and sins2  in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience--3  among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.4  But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,5  even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved--6  and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus7  so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

 Romans8:                                                                                                                                                                31  What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

32  He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

33  Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies.

34  Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died--more than that, who was raised--who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

1John 3:                                                                                                                                               1a See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

Everything is done at the divine discretion of the Almighty. His love, manifest through election (leading to our justification), is without condition. Thus His methods, their object and outcome are without condition.
