Matthew
10:34 "Do not think that I have
come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
Eph
6:17 ………………… and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
Hebrews
4:12 For the word of God is living and
active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and
of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions
of the heart.
Christ
in His initial entrance into creation brings the sword of His Word to bear in
all of humanity. This brings division not peace. A man’s own household turns
against him, and tribulation comes, (all in which the saints are called to
patiently endure), on account of the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
(Rev 1:9; 6:9; 19:10)
The sword Christ carries is now in the hands of His Body, the church. (Matthew 28:18-20)
The sword Christ carries is now in the hands of His Body, the church. (Matthew 28:18-20)
Rev
1:16 In his right hand he held seven
stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the
sun shining in full strength.
Rev
2:12 "And to the angel of the
church in Pergamum write: 'The words of him who has the sharp two-edged
sword………………
16 Therefore repent. If not, I will come to you
soon and war against them with the sword of my mouth.
Christ
reveals Himself to be the Word of God, as well as the source of the Word of
God.
He wields the sword, even in His church. The church at Pergamum had those
who held (hold) both to Balaam’s error, and the teachings of the Nicolaitans.
(Rev 2:14-15)
Pergamum means “fortified”, and comes from the root meaning tower or
castle. Thus He/we destroy strongholds within the church itself when
necessary. (2 Cor 10:3-5)
Rev
19:
11 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white
horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness
he judges and makes war.
12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his
head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.
13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and
the name by which he is called is The Word of God.
14 And the
armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on
white horses.
15 From his
mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will
rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the
wrath of God the Almighty……..
21 And the
rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on
the horse,
So, Christ came, is currently present (in His church), and is coming, to wage
war with the sword of His mouth
Ultimately the nations will fall by the power of that sword. The
scriptures are not the revelation of a future world war, nuclear war, or some
other war of a conventional nature, by which Christ emerges victorious. They
reveal an already victorious Christ, who has, and will conquer, by the power of
the Gospel, His Word! (Rev 5:9-10;
11:15)
Psalm 138:2b …………………….for you have exalted above
all things your name and your word.
His name is the Word of God!
Solus Christus
Sola Scriptura
Soli Deo Gloria
