Galatians 5:
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
2Timothy 1:7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control (soundness of mind).
deilos
timid, that is, (by implication) faithless: - fearful.
The "fearful" are those who act in a powerless, unloving, and faithless way. Thus they have no control of themselves. "Self" rules their lives. This “spirit” does not come from God.
John
12:
42 Nevertheless, many even of the authorities
believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that
they would not be put out of the synagogue;
43 for they loved the glory that comes from man
more than the glory that comes from God.
Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever
trusts in the LORD is safe.
