2Timothy 3:
1 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.
2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good,
4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
6 For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions,
7 always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.
8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith.
9 But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men. 

2Cor 5:
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
11 Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others. But what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience.
12 We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about what is in the heart.

Colossians 2:
13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.
17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.
18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind,
19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.
20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations--
21 "Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch"
22 (referring to things that all perish as they are used)--according to human precepts and teachings?
23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh. 

Interesting that the “appearance of godliness” is listed with all kind of unrighteous behaviors. Paul is speaking about himself and his companions in ministry throughout 2 Corinthians. Men have turned it into neo-legalisms to gain or lose salvation by, ignoring both context and content.
There is an old British television comedy called “Keeping Up Appearances”. The main character, Hyacinth Bucket (bouquet as she would say) wears herself (and everyone around her) out trying to be something she is not. The show is funny because it’s true of all mankind. It is sadly both affliction and epidemic in today’s professing evangelicalism. Then again it has always been a problem else Paul would not be addressing it.
The rulers and authorities disarmed by the Father through the crucified Son in Colossians 2 are, in context, the religious leaders of the day. By His death we are no longer under the Law and its curse so that those who would feel the need to enforce the law and apply it to the Gospel, have had their weaponry made ineffective.
This fits right in the narrative of Rev 12 and 13 with the dragon, the accuser of the brothers, being cast down from before the throne, as Christ, who has accomplished everything regarding both the justification and sanctification of the saints, is now seated at the right hand, and there is no longer any room for Satan and his angels to rail against the elect as he did before God in the story of Job. The dragon then hands all of his power to the beast which represents not just the political and economic systems of men, but also the systems of false religion, (which includes westernized christianity). This was taking place in John’s day when he wrote the book, and so has continued into our times. Satan wages war on the saints through the beast. The false doctrines of sinless perfection, progressive sanctification, and all other aberrant ”holiness” teachings are disarmed through Christ alone by grace alone, to the glory of the Father alone. This is the battle the saints of God are engaged in.

2Cor 10:
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
6 being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete. (2 Cor 11:3-15)

Isaiah 54:
15 If anyone stirs up strife, it is not from me; whoever stirs up strife with you shall fall because of you.
16 Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy;
17 no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, declares the LORD."

Galatians 6:
13 For even those who are circumcised do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh.
14 But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
15 For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.
16 And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.
What the visible professing church has forgotten in its charge against that which is unrighteous, i.e. sin, is the fact that all self-righteousness is unrighteousness. (Luke 18:10-14)

The Devil You Say?

The intent of the prophets (Isaiah 14 & Ezekiel 28) was never to describe Satan or his apparent downfall. Satan was created to be Satan. He was never an archangel named Lucifer, nor was he a "guardian cherub" in the garden. This is a roman catholic construct which has survived the jump into the protestant and evangelical world. It was intended to remove responsibility from the Lord for the creation of Satan. God needs no defense of ours. We are told to offer a defense for the hope that is in us, and that defense is the scripture accurately exegeted. Scripture agrees with itself and there is no support for a double meaning to Isaiah 14 or Ezekiel 28.

John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer FROM THE BEGINNING, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

The beginning;literally from the very first from the commencement.

1Timothy 3:6  He (an overseer) must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Satan was condemned from the beginning. The mention here of that condemnation in no way indicates a fall from archangel status. Of course Satan is prideful. However, so are men.
There is no scripture which supports the view that the kings of Tyre and Babylon are actually metaphors for the devil. 
However the usage of descriptive metaphor such as guardian cherub, etc is speaking solely of men, since Adam was the one given dominion in the garden of God, i.e. creation, and His dominion over creation has never been rescinded. It is corrupted however by the disobedience of both he and Eve. (Genesis 1:24-31 & 2:5-25) Satan does not have dominion over creation, but authority over the kingdoms of unregenerate mankind, that is, those who remain children of wrath, those born of the lie. Satan’s “authority”  could have only been given to him by God who is the supreme authority.(Have we learned nothing from Job?) (Luke 4:5-6; Ephesians 2:1-3)
  
Scripture defines Satan in this way;

John 8:                                                                                                                                 
42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me.43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word.
44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me.

Rev 12:
9  And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world--he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
10  And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.

He is dragon, (i.e the ancient serpent), accuser of the redeemed elect ( the brothers),  murderer, liar, father of lies and all liars, deceiver of and ruler over the kingdoms of man. He was never a guardian cherub in Eden, nor an archangel.

You may say that neither the king of Tyre. nor of Babylon were guardian cherubs either. Of course they weren’t. These are descriptive metaphors addressed to and about men. Adam was a man and was placed as a guardian in the garden, (dominion). All men, including all rulers of nations were “in Adam’ when he succumbed to disobedience. These passages are describing metaphorically the condition of men, not the rise and fall of “Lucifer”.

The problem is that the visible professing church gives more credence to the traditions of men (specifically the westernized religion known as christianity, i.e. a christianized version of talmud, and rabbinical schools) than the Word of God alone.

Matthew 15:
7  You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said:
8  "'This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;
9  in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'"

Hebrews 9:
15  Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.
16  For where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established.
17  For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive.

Luke 10:
17  The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!"
18  And he said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
19  Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.
20  Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
 
All of scripture, up to the exact moment of Christ’s giving up His Spirit on the cross, occurs under the auspices of God’s sovereignty, and is  manifested through several covenants prior to the institution of the new (and final) covenant. Therefore, the Lord’s sending out of the seventy-two, and all that follows occur under the “old”.

This “sending out” is copy and shadow. The casting out of the demonic is copy and shadow of what would come.  Christ had yet to die. The Gospel of salvation for the elect through the Lamb that was slain had yet to be preached. Still the Lord graciously made them aware that as the elect, their names were already recorded in the Lamb’s Book of Life, which is the true point of the Gospel, not the manifestation of signs and wonders.

The episode recorded in Luke 10 is a foretelling of what was to be. Therefore Christ’s words regarding Satan had yet to be. It is a prophetic foretelling which we see described in fullness in Rev 12.

The male child (Son) is born, the dragon seeks His destruction. However the Son is caught away and brought to the throne of God where he now sits at the Father’s right hand, where he rules with the rod of iron. He has simply to return and usher in the new earth in which righteousness dwells. (Ephesians 1:17-23; Hebrews 9:26a-28; Hebrews 10:12-14; 2 Peter 3:11-14)

The fall of Satan recorded in scripture is not the fall of a rebellious archangel named Lucifer. It is the fall of who from the beginning is Satan the dragon, the ancient serpent, the accuser of the brothers. He is cast out by Michael, of whom the scripture both names and identifies as an archangel, in plain language. (This was also not Michael’s first encounter with Satan. Jude 1:9)

There is no such revelation regarding Satan as either archangel, or Lucifer.

Satan’s “fall” occurs after the ascension of Christ to His throne. With our great high priest so seated, Satan can no longer bring an accusation against the elect. Christ died for sin once for all, and for all time. There is no room in heaven for Satan and the non-elect angels who follow him to ignominy. (1 Timothy 5:21 if there are elect angels, and there are; then all who are cast down with Satan are non-elect.)

Satan is now relegated to the task of making war on the saints until Christ’s return. This he does by granting all his authority to the beast (remember what he tempted the Lord with Luke 4:5-8), (Rev 13:5-10) This all falls into the predestined plan of God (Acts 4:24-30)

The conclusion:
The mythology of Christianity elevates Satan to a station far beyond his God ordained role.
